While teaching at a design university in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Kanishka Muthuthanthri realized that there was no proper system and work culture for graduates of the animation industry available locally. Because of this he decided to create an environment to give budding animators a chance to create content to appeal to both the local and international markets while giving them the freedom to voice their opinions and being removed from the strains of workplace politics.

During the time of its inception, Kanishka was already working on commissioned artworks and wanted to expand operations and create a team. This is where he joined forces with his family to help invest in this new company, with leading it from the front as CEO.

Along the way, the company has picked up various other designers on short-term contracts and interns, while furthering the ideals of creative freedom and collaboration in the process.

In 2019, Mathieu Thiele joined the company as a generalist and has since rose to the role of Creative Director and Company Manager, due to his consistency of hard work and devotion to the same goals as the company. Currently, under Kanishka’s and Mathieu’s leadership, the company has been scaling up its capabilities through experimentation for Art and Animation along with client servicing, to create a better work culture for animators in the country.

They’ve managed to build a small yet stable roster of designers, which includes Illustrators, Concept Artist, Storyboard Artist, Editors, and Animators. Following these additions, the company has streamlined its creative process and increased its presence on social media platforms like Instagram, gaining interest from local as well as foreign sources, including acknowledgment from Island Def Jam Records in a repost of one of our artworks and animation based on the Weeknd’s Blinding Lights. Most recently the company has also had the opportunity to work with other companies to create story pitches and concept artwork for potential episodic animated shows.
